What Is It and Why Use It?

Invisalign is a great alternative to braces. It uses a series of thin and transparent trays, combined with small white attachments, instead of the traditional metal brackets and wires, to gradually align your teeth. Their invisibility and comfort make them an ideal choice. Additionally, since they're removable, patients are easily able to maintain excellent hygiene.

Conditions That Can Benefit From Invisalign:

Patients with both crowding and spacing issues can benefit from Invisalign. As crowding increases in one's mouth, the likelihood for tooth decay and gum disease also increases, as it becomes more difficult to clean around the teeth. Conversely, if spacing is present, plaque and calculus can adhere to the harder to clean surfaces. Certain bite issues can also be corrected with Invisalign. Tooth alignment can alleviate TMJ issues and also reduce future tooth wear, preserving your enamel.

Why Choose Invisalign Over the Mail-In Orthodontic Options:

Many companies now offer clear aligner services, at a low cost, without the option for a dental consultation. Unfortunately, many key components are missing with these treatment routes, such as evaluations of teeth, gum tissue and X-rays. The white attachments, which are customized for each patient with Invisalign treatment, and temporarily applied to your teeth by the dental team, are also not available with the mail-in aligners.

These attachments play an integral part in the movement of the teeth. Without the attachments, the clear trays can only tip the teeth into certain directions, versus properly moving teeth into the correct locations. Furthermore, with Invisalign treatment, your progress is closely monitored by a dentist, in order to ensure an excellent outcome!
