Dentistry is the marriage of dental science and artistry–and it is the mix of the two that makes the most beautiful of smiles. Another pairing, the dentist’s skill and the patient’s desires. Truly understanding what they want and need for their smile is of the utmost importance.

This patient’s journey and veneer procedure was a fun learning experience for our own, Dr. Ashley Pare. She traveled to New York City to learn from the best aesthetic dentists at an Aesthetic Advantage course. It was both a didactic and hands-on (live patient) continuing education seminar. The course included two trips to New York, one to prepare and temporize the case, and the other to deliver the final veneers. The results are simply stunning.

Let’s discuss some of the artistry of cosmetic dentistry and the veneers process. “The smile design is a collaborative effort including the patient, dentist and ceramist. The patient has the opportunity to wear the ‘trial smile’, the temporary veneers, for a few weeks to ensure proportions, angles, and color are exactly what they desire. The porcelain is hand layered by the ceramist and the final results are incredibly natural and life-changing!” said Dr. Pare.

Look at the veneers before and after. The patient received 10 feldspathic ceramic veneers to replace 25 year old bondings and increase the uniformity in color, add vibrancy and achieve symmetry in her smile! It’s given her a “smile lift”, as the porcelain has widened her smile for a more youthful appearance!
