If you’re yearning for a straight, white, and bright smile, dental veneers could be perfect for you. Struggling with cosmetic dental concerns can lower your confidence and self-esteem, and in some cases make you consistently hide your smile instead of wearing it proudly. That’s where veneers come in. Veneers are modern dentistry’s makeup for your teeth, a concealer for smile imperfections both mild and moderate.
At Seaside Dentistry, we rely heavily on photography and really listen to what our patients’ aesthetic desires are. We use very highly skilled ceramists who are true craftsmen to create these veneers by hand!
What are veneers?
Veneers are thin porcelain coverings that go on the front, or outside-facing, portion of your teeth. They are custom designed to seamlessly blend in with the shape, size and color of your natural teeth.
How do veneers work?
Installing veneers typically requires three appointments. During the first meeting, our team will discuss your dental history, bite problems, and aesthetic goals. On the second visit, Dr. Pare will prepare your teeth and take molds. Tooth preparation includes trimming off enamel about the thickness of the veneer. After our team takes an impression of your prepared teeth, the model is sent to a dental lab, which prepares the veneers. At your final visit, your veneers are permanently bonded to your tooth or teeth using dental cement.
5 reasons why veneers are right for you:
1. Look and feel like natural teeth
The ultimate goal of veneers is to shield cosmetic dental flaws and reveal a beautiful, natural-looking smile you can wear proudly. This happens through customization during the design process, which enables the veneer to mimic your natural teeth as closely as possible for an aesthetically-pleasing, functional smile.
2. Nobody will know you have them
Since they match the shape, size and color of your natural teeth, veneers are indistinguishable from the rest of your smile. This makes them a virtually undetectable cosmetic solution that can help you hide imperfections without sacrificing your smile’s natural beauty.
3. Keep your smile staying bright
Many people choose veneers to correct the color of their teeth because of staining or discoloration from coffees, teas, sodas, red wines, use of tobacco or natural aging. Porcelain veneers not only address these concerns but provide enhanced stain resistance to keep your smile brighter longer.
4. Strong and durable
Although they’re thin to protect the integrity of your natural teeth, the porcelain used to create dental veneers is strong and durable. Its composition helps make them resistant to chips and cracks, which helps protect your smile from damage for years to come.
5. They last
Due to their strength and durability, veneers are going to last for up to 15 years with proper care and maintenance. While they do not require any additional care, you should still continue with your regular dental care routine and cleanings.
Are veneers right for you?
With veneers, minimal preparation of the teeth is required. Dr. Ashley Pare of Seaside Dentistry in Jupiter, Florida, takes a very conservative approach to the design and tooth preparation. At the preparation and impression visit, you leave with your newly designed smile in temporary veneers. These temporary veneers are designed to mimic our final outcome in size, shape and color so you can have a ‘trial smile’. *I will usually have the patient back one week later for a brief post-op to discuss any changes they want to make for the final veneers and I then relay that information to my lab.
